Start at the Savannah Visitor Center

9-10 am: Start the day early at the Savannah Visitor Center. Here you can visit the Savannah History Museum (located inside of the the Visitor’s Center).

Hop On Hop Off Trolley Tour or DOT Trolley

10 am: hop on either the Old Town Trolley Tours (also included on your Savannah Tour Pass) for a ride through the city. You can also hop on the DOT Trolley here. 

Owens-Thomas House

10:30 am: Visit the Owens-Thomas House & Slave Quarters which is an antebellum mansion. It was built in 1819 and is considered a significant example of American Federal-style architecture. The house features elaborate ironwork, intricate plasterwork, and beautiful furniture from the early 19th century. It has been open to the public as a museum since 1954, offering visitors a glimpse into the life of a wealthy 19th-century family. The guides will also extensively go over the life and stories of Slaves that lived, experience their living conditions there as well. 

Stop for Lunch

11:30 – 12:30 pm: Take a break for lunch and head to one of Savannah’s many fantastic restaurants. Absolutely it is a safe and walkable city. The historic district is considered to be very safe. It’s best to be street smart however and not walk alone at night. 

Yes, the DOT Trolley provides free hop on hop off bus transportation throughout the Historic District.

That all depends on your tolerance to heat and humidity. In the peak of the summer season (July – September), Savannah is normally hot and humid. Since many of the trees and squares provide ample shade, we don’t feel that Savannah is unbearable. Typically the spring and fall seasons are best for milder temperatures.
