One of the best ways to see Savannah is on foot of course.
DOT Downton Free Trolley
It’s FREE and is one of the most popular ways to get around the historic district of Savannah and see the sites. Here’s a map that you can view or print if you’d like of the routes and where it stops.
There are 2 routes: Downtown and Forsyth Park which go through the most popular center squares of the city.
Runs every 10 minutes.
Operates Monday – Friday 7 am – 7 pm. Saturday 10 am – 7 pm. Sunday 10 am – 6 pm.
Get on and off at 18 stops around the Historic District.

Old Town Trolley Tours: Narrated Hop On Hop Off Trolley

Total loop time takes about 90-mintues, however you can hop off at any time.
15 Stops throughout the Historic District.
Narrated with historical facts as you drive by sites.
Times: Starts at 9 am and circles back around to each stop every 15-20 mintues until 4:30 – 5 pm.

Absolutely it is a safe and walkable city. The historic district is considered to be very safe. It’s best to be street smart however and not walk alone at night.
If you plan on riding the Hop On Hop Off Trolley you can park for free at the Trolley bus station. If staying in the historic district they will also provide hotel pick-up (call them to schedule).
If you want to ride the Hop On Hop Off Trolley for more than 1-day, you can use an additional Featured Tour or we recommend upgrading your 1-day ticket to multiple days when you get there. You’ll have to pay out-of-pocket to upgrade.

To switch buses, get off at the Visitor Center and wait for the appropriate bus. We recommend parking here if you intend on riding the trolley.
